To be able to maintain the provision of a competitively priced, fast, efficient and reliable service it is imperative that trucks are kept in very good running order. This is why particular attention is paid to the workshop. Speedy recoveries of broken down trucks is critical to a smoothly running operation hence KTL has recently acquired a multi purpose Recovery Vehicle. Fuel supply is another important factor to this operation and as such the company has underground 60,000 litre fuel tanks on site and an 80,000 litre overhead tank.
KTL is in the Road Freight Transport sector of the Transport industry and the service provided is of the haulage of goods internationally.
International haulage of goods is presently to South Africa, The Democratic Republic of Congo, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Namibia, Botswana and Zambia. Outward cargo is mainly copper and manufactured goods. Each outward journey is matched with an inward cargo load for Zambia and sometimes for the Congo. The cargo is mostly break-bulk and is contracted to KTL by its joint venture partner Trailercorp. The movement of the inward cargo is co-ordinated by the KTL field offices in the respective country
