Kasembo Transport Limited started operations in 1977 and was incorporated on 23rd February, 1983 under the laws of The Republic of Zambia as a fully owned Zambian Enterprise. It is engaged in the haulage of goods. The company is SQAS accredited.
The authorised and paid up share capital has been increased to K100,000 (Kwacha one hundred thousand only) owned 99% by Kasembo Holdings Limited, a Zambian registered company, who in turn is owned by Octogen Ltd, a Mauritian based company.
KTL made a policy decision in 2006 to enter into a joint venture arrangement whereby it would become a horse operator only. Consequently all trailers were sold into its joint venture partner Trailercorp. The joint venture has gone from strength to strength and currently the fleet consists of 133 units and 7 spare horses. Trailercorp itself is part of a group consisting of 300 horses and trailers making the total group size 432 units.
Kasembo Transport Limited is situated on a 3.04 hectare plot on Mosi-O-Tunya Road in the heart of Ndola’s Skyways Industrial Site. The site includes a rail siding.
The property is walled with electrified wire fencing on top of the wall. There is excellent security lighting and 24-hour guard. The premises are also insured against fire and theft.
The company is a significant player in the transport sector handling goods both locally in Zambia and internationally in the Southern, Central and East African Region. The company’s reputation has been built on a competitively priced, fast, efficient and reliable service it has been able to offer to clients. Uniformity of the fleet which is 100% Volvo trucks along with a fully kitted workshop which is regularly being updated with the latest recommended equipment from and relevant staff training by Volvo of South Africa has ensured that the trucks are always in very good running order. Field offices in strategic towns and a satellite tracking system monitored 24 hours per day has enabled the company to make timely deliveries and recoveries in the event of breakdowns. The growth of KTL since its inception from running one long haul truck and seven smaller ones to its present fleet of 139 long haul trucks demonstrates the potential of the company.
